Are christians who preach to show love but don't show it themselves false prophets?

It is easy to tell others that they need to love but is is harder to actually show it. So a person who preaches to love and lives a life that is not filled with love will cause people to think of that person as a hypocrite. And that could cause people to view or generalize all christians of being that way. Would that person be a false prophet?Are christians who preach to show love but don't show it themselves false prophets?
They are hypocrites. You could call them false teachers, but I'm not sure I'd go that far. They could be called a false teacher only if they were teaching a false gospel.





A person who is a prophet represents God and what God wants his people to hear. A false prophet does not teach what God wants his people to hear and bears false witness that they are from God.





No, they are hypocrites and that's about it.

Not a false prophet, unless one is prophesying falsely.


Deuteronomy 18 gives the criteria for false prophets in the final two verses.





As for not showing love, I think it depends upon what your definition of love is. Sometimes it is soft and inviting, and other times it can be a bit harsh and reproving. But even the reproving kind is done with love as its basis, to show us our wrongs and teach us to do better.





Do we love people enough to tell them the truth?

A person who talks the talk but does not walk the walk is a hypocrite. The modern version of a prophet is simply one who spreads God's truth.
